WMLan is a dockapp that monitors the status of 3Com LanModem.
The software should work seamlessly with both ISDN and 56K versions. Even though the disconnect button is hardcoded to provider #2, users with basic knowledge should be able to tweak that easily. We have tested this software on 3Com OfficeConnect 3c886 Lanmodem with 7.1.0 firmware, and it works flawlessly.
One downside of this software is that it is known to have a few bugs. However, the issues are minor and shouldn't create significant problems for the user. Additionally, the connect and disconnect buttons work, which is a significant advantage.
The dockapp features a user-friendly interface that displays connect counter, CPU usage, transmission load, receive load, and the IP address of the LanModem. The dockapp also displays the connect speed along with the connect and disconnect buttons in the lower right corner. In case the software hangs during start, kill it and restart it.
We acknowledge that there may be limitations to the software, and we never programmed sockets, so users have to deal with that. We encourage users to improve the code and share it with us to enhance the overall user experience. Installing the app is a straightforward process, and users should follow these steps:
1. cd wmlan
2. edit wmlan.c and put your LanModem IP and password in the top two lines. Ensure that you leave "rn" for the password.
3. To install, make strip/copy wmlan bin wherever you want it, then run "wmlan &".
In summary, WMLan is a reliable status monitor dockapp that provides users with essential information regarding their LanModems. However, this application can only benefit individuals who own a LanModem.
