Wobbly NOP is a lightweight and efficient LiveCD OS based on Puppy Linux 3.01, featuring various modifications.
Wobbly NOP is based on Puppy NOP, which comes with the Xfce desktop environment and the Opera web browser/internet suite. While NOP is a release-quality OS, Wobbly NOP is still being worked on and is currently a test release for people who want to experiment and provide feedback.
The modifications made to Wobbly NOP include wow's october compiz test dotpet, the CCSM settings manager and Python, Xorg7.2 DRI modules, Xorg7.2 OpenGL, bug fixes for ATI setups and Compiz, and proprietary nVidia drivers (x3) since OSS drivers don't do AIGLX. There's also a Compiz-Fusion wizard script that sets up the correct configurations at the end of xorgwizard, but its method of simple text-pattern matching might not successfully detect all cards.
Compiz is started from the beginning of .xinitrc and has been tested as stable on graphics cards such as ATI Radeon 9550, Nvidia Geforce MX 440 and probably all nVidias. However, it might be unstable on newer graphics cards like GeForce 2 mx 400 and nVidia GeForce 6200.
Overall, Wobbly NOP offers an exciting modification to Puppy Linux with its inclusion of Compiz-Fusion for 3D window effects. While it's still being improved, it's worth trying out for those who want to experiment and provide feedback.
