Wolf Pup Linux is a derivative of PuppyLinux that centers around Wolf Bone, the core ISO.
Puppy Linux is a unique operating system that is based on GNU Linux. One of its defining features is its small size, but full functionality. Puppy Linux can operate with just a 64MB ramdisk, and everything runs in RAM. This differs from live CD distributions that have to keep accessing the CD during operation. This means that applications start immediately and respond quickly to user input. Additionally, Puppy Linux has the ability to run off various storage media and only occupies 50-60M on USB drives, CDROM, or similar storage types.
When booting, Puppy Linux loads everything into a "ramdisk" that is uncompressed. The live-CD will work with systems with only 32M RAM, but systems with 128M RAM are recommended. Puppy Linux will utilize a swap partition if it exists, and will automatically copy excess files to the partition if there is not enough RAM. This eliminates writes to Flash memory during a session, lengthening its life. To run larger GUI applications, a swap partition may be necessary on systems with less than 64M RAM.
