Wrappers4EMBOSS is a software that enables the integration of various bioinformatics software suites and databases within the EMBOSS environment.
Recently, Wrappers4EMBOSS has made significant updates. For instance, the installation script has been modified to work with all EMBOSS versions from 3.0.0 to 6.0.0, thus allowing users to experience the improved functionalities of the updated packages. Additionally, the installation script can also detect whether a graphical viewer is available and only check for its presence if the user requests this feature, saving users the hassle of installing unnecessary software.
Wrappers4EMBOSS now includes a new ML (Maximum Likelihood) module that offers interfaces to the programs PhyML of Stephane Guindon and Olivier Gascuel and ModelGenerator of Thomas Keane. Both PhyML and ModelGenerator can now automatically open the generated tree file with NJplot when run on an X-terminal. MRS now supports local installation as well as remote MRS servers, which can be accessed via Web services. Additionally, EBI Web Services have been upgraded with the latest version of SOAP::Lite, eliminating the need to support an installation of SOAP::Lite 0.60.
The fastA module has been upgraded to work with versions from 35.1.6 to 35.3.6. Tfata has been removed and new programs, ggsearch and glsearch, have been added. Blast has an additional selector that allows users to request composition-based adjustment of the E() computation for the blastp and tblastn options.
Finally, the online manuals for all software programs have been updated to the latest EMBOSS 4.0.0/5.0.0 formats, and error messages have been added where necessary to improve user experience.
