Xchat-gnome is a fresh interface for the well-known X-Chat IRC customer.
Thankfully, GNOME is stepping up to address this issue. Their approach to user interfaces prioritizes simplicity, presenting users with a clean, intuitive experience out of the box. While the basic functionality of X-Chat will be preserved within GConf, only the most common settings will be included in the main UI.
This is a welcome change from the excessive customizability of other GTK+ frontends. Previous IRC clients often scattered their options throughout their interfaces, leading to confusion and clutter.
It's important to note that this project is still in its early stages. As a result, building, running, and debugging the software can be somewhat challenging. However, anyone interested in contributing to this promising application can find assistance in the #xchat-gnome channel on irc.freenode.net.
