This software provides a compatibility layer allowing WindowMaker dockapps to run on the XFCE desktop. Simplifying the process of using these apps on different platforms.
The installation process is relatively straightforward - users can compile and install the package as they usually would. However, it's best to set the size of the panel that the plugin will swallow to something larger than 64 pixels for optimal performance. Once installed, users can right-click on the panel to add the WMdock plugin. At this point, the properties dialog box will pop up; for now, it's best to close this dialog.
The next step involves opening up a terminal or the XFCE "Run Program..." dialog and launching dockapps such as wmcalclock, wmsmpmon, wmhdplop, etc. WMdock will promptly swallow up these dockapps, making them visible on the panel. Users can then open up the properties dialog box to change the order of dockapps, as well as the command line used to start an individual dockapp.
Another convenient feature is that on the next XFCE session startup, WMdock will automatically come up with the dockapps already configured, saving users time and energy. Overall, the Xfce WMdock plugin provides a seamless solution for those who want to use WindowMaker dockapps on the XFCE desktop environment.
