Xfprot is a user-friendly interface designed to work alongside F-Prot Antivirus, offering an effective system for detecting and removing malware. The software provides reliability and easy management of the antivirus program, providing a diverse range of tools in one place.
Xfprot's earlier versions up to version 0.19beta were based on the XSTEP-3.5.1 library, released between 1996 and 2001 by Marcelo Samsoniuk and other collaborators. This library was released under the LGPL license. However, version 0.20beta onwards of Xfprot uses the Gtk+ 1.2 libraries. With version 1.0-rc2, users can also use the updated Gtk+ 2.2 libraries.
While Xfprot is specifically tested and used for Linux versions like Mandrake 9.0,9.1, 9.2, and 10.0, it is possible to use the software on other distributions, several *BSD's, and Unix systems. The software aims to provide a reliable and easy-to-use antivirus system for all users.
