XKobo is a high-speed scrolling shooter game with multiple levels, where players must navigate through challenges and battle enemies.
As a single player game, XKobo is fairly straightforward to play. Your objective is to destroy all the fortresses while controlling your ship. This can be done by using the cursor keys or moving the mouse cursor. To shoot beams, simply press the SHIFT key or the left mouse button. Additionally, if you need to pause the game, you can do so by pressing the 's' key or the right mouse button.
Before installing XKobo, ensure that your system meets the following requirements: Unix, BSD or GNU system (e.g. GNU/Linux), X window system (256 colors or more), and a C++ compiler.
Installing XKobo is not too complicated. You will need to edit the Imakefile (if necessary) and then run xmkmf -a followed by make. Once done, switch to the superuser (su) and run make install and make install.man.
In this latest release, the XKobo project has addressed an endianness problem of score files and improved the security of score files. So, all in all, XKobo is a fantastic game that keeps getting better with each release.
