XLV is Linux middleware designed for multimedia streaming implementation.
One of XLV's key features is its OS-independent multi-threaded core that efficiently shares the complexity of streams across multiple processes. The software also includes an audio-video core that ensures a high level of synchronization between these two important elements of multimedia.
XLV comes with an impressive array of built-in plugins, including an SDL video output driver that supports YUV overlay, resize, and fullscreen. The software also features an ESD/OSS audio output driver, as well as a PCM automatic filter for PCM-to-PCM conversion.
In addition, XLV includes an MPEG Layer 1, 2, and 3 audio decoder, based on the widely-used MPG123 codec. There's also a Win32 video codec import feature, with Win32 audio codec import currently in progress.
RIFF abstract decoders, AVI system decoders and WAVE system decoders are all included with XLV, giving users plenty of options when it comes to decoding various types of multimedia.
Finally, XLV provides a GTK player that is easy to use and offers seek abilities, making it a great choice for Linux users looking for a powerful, feature-rich multimedia streaming solution.
