"xmltoman" and "xmlmantohtml" are software scripts that can transform XML into man pages in GROFF or HTML file formats, respectively. These programs are small and useful for developers working with XML content.
Installation is a breeze. Simply use the command "make" followed by "make install" to install the scripts. By default, the scripts will be installed to /usr/local. However, if you need to override this location, simply set PREFIX before installation, such as "make PREFIX=/usr" and "make install PREFIX=/usr".
One alternative to using xmlmantohtml is to pass the XML source through an XSLT interpreter such as "xsltproc" (available as a Debian package). A XSL template for HTML is even provided in the directory /usr/share/xmltoma/xmltoman.xsl. If this alternative option proves to be useful, xmlmantohtml will be deprecated.
I also discovered some new features in this release such as generated HTML entities to "&" and improved error messaging when no file is passed. In my experience, these scripts are a useful addition to any software stack. Give them a try and see for yourself!
