The XMMS VQF Plugin is the official plugin for XMMS allowing support for VQF files.
Compiling this software is usually a straightforward process - you simply need to run the "./configure, make, make install" commands. However, if you're using Debian, you'll need to install the "libglib1.2-dev" and "libgtk1.2-dev" packages beforehand. Additionally, note that XMMS VQF Plugin relies on a binary SDK - this means that it will not work with newer compilers. The only compilers known to work are late 3.2 compilers and all 3.3 compilers. If you're using a recent compiler, you should download the binary version of the plugin instead.
If your input plugins are stored somewhere other than "/usr/local/lib/xmms/Input", you'll need to add a "--prefix" command when running the "./configure" script. In terms of requirements, all you need is XMMS.
In terms of what's new in this release, the software has been compiled with recent versions of g++ and is now less likely to crash with weird headers. Additionally, some bugs for VQF's that ended too early and VQF's with bad headers have been fixed. Users can now also perform basic tag editing, and length reports have been adjusted to ensure that files don't end too soon. Finally, a new "view file info" box has been added.
