Yamefa is a Linux OS that's built on Kubuntu, providing users with access to numerous software applications as part of a complete operating system.
One of the standout features of Yamefa is the fact that it can be trialled using just a single bootable CD (LiveCD). This makes it easy to test out the system without having to undertake a full installation process. However, should you decide to commit, an installer is included on the CD which takes you step-by-step through the process of setting up the operating system. You're even able to browse the web whilst the system is installing.
As for the software included within Yamefa, there are plenty of options to choose from. You'll find the Mozilla Firefox web browser, complete with the Sage extension which improves RSS feed reading. There's also the popular Mozilla Thunderbird mail reader with the added bonus of a Lightning extension for accessing calendars. The Gimp image editor is another notable inclusion, as is the OpenOffice.org office suite.
Perhaps most impressive of all is the fact that Yamefa can be installed in a remarkable 58 different languages (with French and English supported on the CD itself). For those considering other languages, packages can be downloaded during the installation process or through subsequent updates.
Overall, Yamefa seems like an intuitive and powerful operating system, with a generous range of software tools to help you streamline your computing needs.
