YAA is an autoresponder software designed for email vacation responses.
As a software reviewer, I found it noteworthy that this autoresponder daemon was created because the developer himself was searching for mail autoresponder software that could be easily extended and would work with Postfix virtual delivery daemon virtual(8). Since he couldn't find what he was looking for on the internet, he decided to write it in Perl.
The key features of Yet Another Autoresponder that stood out to me include its ability to fetch autoresponder data using plugins (which are currently developed for SQL, LDAP, DB_File, BerkeleyDB, PCRE, and STATIC), forward the entire original message to a per-recipient custom tunable email address, and not respond to mailing list posts or posts that could cause an autoresponder deadlock. Additionally, autoresponse messages can be in any charset, it features a single, all-in-one configuration file, and can act as an SMTP or LMTP server in daemon mode.
To utilize Yet Another Autoresponder, you'll need Perl 5.6.1 or better, DB_File, IO::File, IO::Handle, Net::SMTP, and File::Basename. You'll also need specific required modules for your plugins (such as Carp::Heavy and DBD::XXX). Finally, to use Yet Another Autoresponder in daemon mode, you'll need Net::Server and Net::Server::Mail.
Overall, I was impressed with this software and appreciated the subject encoding issue fix included in its latest release. If you're searching for a versatile email autoresponder that will allow you to easily fetch autoresponse data from various sources, Yet Another Autoresponder may be the ideal choice for you.
