yPlot is a software interface that connects Yorick and PLplot, allowing users to create scientific plots and graphs with ease. It simplifies the process of producing high-quality visualizations to explain data and results.
Conrad Steenberg created yPlot, which is powerful and easy to use for both beginners and advanced users. Yorick has its own BSD-style license and is openly redistributable. Meanwhile, PLplot is now under the LGPL.
YPlot is distributed under the GPL, and the most recent version of the application boasts several important changes. YPlot-1.2.0 has been updated to work with yorick-2.1.05, the standard version of yorick that's found on all modern versions of Debian and Ubuntu. The release also features a new CMake-based build system, which allows for the creation of an ordinary autoloaded yplot extension. Previously, special yplot and yplotl executables were required.
The latest testing shows that yPlot-1.2.0 is working excellently with PLplot-5.9.0, which has already been released, as well as subversion versions of PLplot that are precursors to the forthcoming release of PLplot-5.9.1.
