ZoltanPlayer is a music playing software that runs as a daemon.
ZoltanPlayer supports Audio and Data CDs and is not limited to CDs only, as it can play songs from a hard disk directory as well. Playing Audio CDs internally is possible, and users can optionally query CDDB information servers for better accuracy. Additionally, digital songs in audio CDs can be played through external players like MP3 or Ogg Vorbis.
ZoltanPlayer is not designed to be a streaming server or ripper, nor is it a simple HTTP+HTML interface jukebox. The software integrates directly with CD insertion/eject controls and enables users to play CD Audio and spawn external players for other song files.
The current version of ZoltanPlayer is 1.0.0 and is licensed under GPL. It requires Linux to run.
The software is equipped with several commands that can be used to mount or unmount CDs and read directories from a hard disk. Users can play, stop, pause or toggle between songs, and the software also enables users to disable specific songs from playing.
What's new in the latest version of ZoltanPlayer is support for CD cover images and the first stable release of the software. Overall, ZoltanPlayer is ideal for those with a CDROM-equipped computer directly connected to an amplifier or a stereo system.
