AXIS

AXIS is a versatile software with a sleek design user interface, compatible with EMC systems featuring preview and backplot functionalities. It is primarily built with Python and rendered using Tk and OpenGL. AXIS was jointly developed by Jeff Epler and Chris Radek with adherence to the GNU General Public License.

Currently, AXIS is set to roll out a 1.1 update, which will have an improved interface and better compatibility with EMC2. AXIS encourages contributors who would like to assist in fixing bugs, adding features, or maintaining compatibility with EMC2. However, it is worth noting that AXIS is not compatible with emc1 HEAD due to changes they made to the interpreter. Specifically, the external "callback" function "GET_EXTERNAL_RS274NGC_INI_DATA" is not yet supported by AXIS. The team is committed to swiftly resolving the issue and rolling out an update that addresses the compatibility issue.

This update boasts many exciting new functions and bug fixes that previous versions lacked. For example, the backplot now updates every 10ms, regardless of the redraw rate, making the system more efficient. Additionally, the X Resource Database now allows users to customize the colors of the plot area. Opening files can also be interrupted using the ESC key.
