BoboMail is a webmail app that allows users to access their emails through a web interface.
If you encounter any issues with BoboMail, please send your complaints, suggestions, and security advice to the developer's email at ich@henning-schroeder.de or visit their personal webpage. BoboMail is hosted on Sourceforge, and has a webpage for those interested in the development of the software. The developer hopes to make BoboMail more modular for use in mailing list archivers or web-forums.
BoboMail's key features allow users to read, write, reply, forward, delete and bounce messages, send and receive attachments, decode quoted-printable, base64 and uuencoded, handle HTML-mails properly (with inline images!), does not need Javascript, and allows for direct support for the following MIME types: message/rfc822, message/delivery-status, multipart/alternative, multipart/mixed, multipart/report, multipart/related, multipart/digest, text/plain, text/html, text/x-vcard, image/jpeg, text/rfc822-headers, image/png, image/x-xpixmap, and image/gif. It also works with POP3-servers and partially supports IMAP4.
BoboMail is easy to modify and customize through HTML-templates, has a modular design that provides an easy interface for other authentication methods and mail protocols, provides its own fast multithreading webserver (BoboMailHTTPD), and supports multi-lingual support (i18n) in English, Brazilian Portuguese, Finish, Spanish and German. Lastly, it is 100% Python-based, and this release features the following enhancements: fixes to the annoying first-login bug, IMAP support for uw-imapd with additional folders in $HOME/Mail, compatibility with Python 2.x, and a new look with a nicer template inspired by zope.org, alongside some small bug fixes.
