Calf software is a collection of high-quality audio plugins designed specifically for musicians. Our aim is to provide a versatile range of plugins in different formats, allowing you to use them with any audio application you are accustomed to.
We prioritize quality over performance, which may sometimes lead to compatibility issues with old CPUs. However, our belief is that there are enough basic plugins available already, so we strive to create something different that hasn't been covered before.
Currently, our plugins include a flanger with linear interpolation to eliminate the annoying "zipper noise" that basic flanger effects can create. We also offer a simple reverb with basic controls and a relatively neutral sound, avoiding the dreaded metal barrel sound. While this may result in higher CPU usage and less time density, we believe this approach is worth the tradeoff.
Our multimode filter is another popular option, allowing for selectable 12dB/24dB/36dB rolloff, lowpass or highpass. It also comes with inertia/smoothing for cutoff, providing a more "analog" sound when tweaking.
All of our plugins are available in LADSPA format, complete with RDF files. We also offer a standalone JACK client application with an auto-generated GUI for added convenience.
