GNU Hurd: A Unix kernel alternative by the GNU project.
The Hurd is still being developed, but it still does not provide the expected stability and performance required for production systems. Moreover, less than half of Debian's packages have been ported to GNU/Hurd thus far, so there is much work ahead of us before we can create our desired outcome. Nonetheless, development opportunities are available for those who want to participate. Depending on your experience and time availability, you can contribute in various ways.
If designing and creating new features, or bug-fixing and debugging systems using C is something you specialize in, do join us. But, even without a great deal of expertise in C programming, you can contribute by testing existing systems and highlighting any issues, attempting to compile unported software that you are familiar with, or helping to write documentation and maintain web pages.
This release comes with significant feature enhancements that are worth checking out.
