Extra Innings is a baseball game for Super NES that features 12 fictional teams and players instead of real-life teams from America or Japan.
Moreover, Extra Innings allows players to create two custom teams where they can edit the names and ratings of the players according to their liking. While the game adheres to the realistic rules of baseball for the most part, it omits some of the more complex strategies such as the double switch that some players may miss.
One downside to the game is the somewhat primitive control scheme that it employs. Unlike modern baseball games, where players can choose one player to move independently, Extra Innings moves all players in the field in unison when players move the D-Pad. This can take some getting used to, especially if you are accustomed to playing more recent baseball games.
Extra Innings is a two-player game that offers simultaneous action, much like other computer and video baseball games from its era. It is worth noting that this game is recommended for children ages six and up.
