I recently tested out Fuzz Engine, a 2D game engine built on SDL/Mono. The standout feature for me was its ability to load games from XML files, making it incredibly user-friendly. As someone with limited coding experience, being able to produce my own high-performance games in just minutes was a game-changer.
There were a few downsides though. The platform game system still seems to be pretty flaky, which caused some frustration during testing. However, overall I found Fuzz Engine to be a powerful and accessible tool for game development.
