PHex is user-friendly software that displays thermal calculations for Gasketed Plate Heat Exchangers.

One of the standout features of PHex is the ability to enter plate dimensions and materials, including size and chevron angle. Additionally, the software supports both S.I Units and English (U.S.) Units of measurement, making it suitable for engineers globally.
Another notable feature of PHex is the unit converter containing 23 measurements with 200-unit conversions available. The full version of PHex also comes equipped with a manufacturer's plate database containing over 230 plates. This, combined with the software's ability to import physical properties data from Microsoft Excel and WeBBusterZ Physical properties database, offers users a robust platform for conducting calculations.
PHex offers a diverse range of calculation capabilities, including heat load required (clean or fouled) calculations, calculating the Number of plates required for a given heat load, and the overall coefficient (clean/dirty) calculations. Furthermore, the software offers pressure drop channel/port/total for both hot and cold sides, plate heat exchanger dimension calculations, and velocity through ports and mass velocity through channel/ports calculations.
One of my favorite features is the ability to estimate the physical properties of pure components for more than 1450 components. This feature comes integrated with a separate software system and is included with the full version purchase of PHex. Additionally, users can create their database of plates and components, upload their fluid physical properties, and add their Nusselt number correlations.
Finally, PHex allows users to calculate overall heat transfer coefficients, material thermal conductivities, and includes fouling factors. In summary, PHex is an outstanding software tool, offering engineers a comprehensive solution for thermal calculations of Gasketed Plate Heat Exchangers.
