Developed by James Scott Jr
If you're looking for an application to monitor and control the Stanford's Folding@home Linux client program, then gfhcmc may be just what you need. Built with GTK2, this application is an excellent example of gtk/glib programming, complete with gconf and glib's g_io_channel and socket interfaces.

One of the key features of gfhcmc is the active monitoring daemon (gfhcmd) that is included to start/stop and control the FAH Linux client program. And, for those who want to connect to one or more daemons to collect and display monitored statistics, there is a GTK2-based client (gfhcmc) included as well. Plus, a standalone (gfhcm) program is available that contains both feature sets for a single local machine.

The initd service daemon GFHCMD is what starts when Linux boots up, and it controls everything from starting and stopping the F@H client(s) to logging key details of completed work units and responding to remote commands to change operational parameters. The system also logs connects, disconnects, and command requests.

The GFHCMC client program allows users to interact with the daemon and display remote or local daemon results. With a summary page that provides stats on all active F@H clients, detailed team and individual statistics, and a short help/information panel, this application is easy to use.

Additionally, the client program features minimal preferences or configuration required. You only need to enter the name of the remote/local host and port number. The interface is also designed with icon-based navigation, control of start/stop and fah_limit, automatic restart of all communication faults, and a system tray icon to manage visibility of applications.

Of course, there are a few requirements to keep in mind if you want to use this application. Specifically, you will need GTK+ version 2.6.x and glib 2.6 for the daemon or server. For the standalone and client, you'll need glib 2.8+ and gtk 2.8+.

One of the latest additions to gfhcmc is the ability to view the FAHlog.txt file from each monitored folding client. Overall, this application is a great choice for anyone looking to monitor and control the Folding@home Linux client program.
