GJay

If you're a DJ or a home user who wants to create curated playlists that sound great, then GJay (Gtk+ DJ) is the software for you. You can use the software to generate playlists from within the application, or you can run GJay as a standalone command-line utility.

The playlist matches in GJay are based on various factors, including song characteristics that don't change, frequency fingerprint, beats per minute, location in the file system, song attributes that you set, rating, and color. Currently, GJay only works on Linux, but the team is working hard to get it up and running on MacOS as well.

A recent update to GJay fixed several bugs that were causing issues with playlist generation, including the fact that color saturation was being factored in way too much. Additionally, the team added new features, such as making playlist generation time 4 digits wide so users can create extra-long playlists, and using both inode and dev to identify symlinks.
