The GNOME Alarm Applet is an alarm clock software designed specifically for the GNOME panel. It is fully-featured and offers sound as well as command notifications, making sure you never miss an important alarm.

You have the option to choose whether you want to use a unique sound or your favorite music player to notify you when an alarm goes off. Additionally, you can customize whether the sound should be repeated or not. If you prefer, you can even specify a custom command to run instead of predefined media players.

The notification bubble feature lets you choose to have a bubble appear when your alarm goes off. What's more, you can customize the Alarm Applet's appearance as well. You can select whether it shows a label with alarm status or just an icon.

To run the GNOME Alarm Applet software correctly, it requires several dependencies, including GTK+ version 2.12.x, glib-2.13.0, gnome-vfs-2.15.4, gconf-2.8.0, libglade-2.4.0, gstreamer-0.10.2, gnome-panel-2.13.4, libgnome-2.8.0, libgnomeui-2.8.0, gnome-icon-theme-2.15.91, and libnotify-0.3.2.

Installation of the GNOME Alarm Applet is easy. Simply use the usual 'tar zxvf alarm-applet-0.1.tar.gz' command to unpack the files, then navigate to the install directory using 'cd alarm-applet-0.1,' and finally execute the ‘./configure --prefix=/usr make && sudo make install' command to install the software. Note that it is crucial to install in /usr for the gnome-panel to discover the applet.

In case you are unsure about the dependencies, make sure to consult the README file for further guidance. If you're using debian or ubuntu, you need to install some packages before executing the configuration command. These packages include libglib2.0-dev, libgtk2.0-dev, libgnomevfs2-dev, libgconf2-dev, libglade2-dev, libgstreamer0.10-dev, libgnome2-dev, libgnomeui-dev, libpanel-applet2-dev, and libnotify-dev.

To sum up, the GNOME Alarm Applet is a powerhouse alarm clock software with plenty of features to offer, such as customizable notifications and alarms, and it's easy to install with the correct dependencies.
