Harmonical is an audio instrument that utilizes harmonics to modulate vertices of a sphere, resulting in waveform generation for a straightforward additive synthesis engine. This free software uses OpenGL to display the modulated spheres, with a dedicated sphere for every voice. However, due to the need to recalculate 1024 vertices 100 times per second, the software consumes significant CPU power.
To install, simply copy the Harmonical.vst file into the vst plugins directory, located at Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/. However, users should be careful with the software's odd-numbered M controls, as setting them higher than 3 or 4 can result in an extremely loud output.
It is essential to note that Harmonical may not work correctly on Tracktion running under OS X. Tracktion treats windows differently from every other host tested on OS X, leading to the editor's title bar not appearing. Consequently, moving or hiding the plugin's GUI is impossible without removing the plugin from the project.
