Jagzilla alpha

April 22, 2005
Jagzilla is a set of Java-based components designed for Bugzilla.
Version 6b
License GPL
Platform Linux
Supported Languages English
Homepage jagzilla.sourceforge.net
Developed by Mike G.
Jagzilla is without a doubt one of the most pioneering Java-based versions of bugzilla. The project was established with the primary objective of providing an all-inclusive java-based interface to bugzilla while creating compatibility between bugzilla and java-based apps with supplementary functionality.

Jagzilla offers a wide range of key features, some of which include the integration of Bugzilla with Java-based apps, Eclipse integration (with the Eclipse plugin), CVS integration (with the Eclipse plugin), and an extension of Bugzilla functionality while still ensuring backward compatibility with jagzilla extension tables.

This ground-breaking software comprises several components such as Hibernate Mapping, Jagzilla Core API, Jagzilla Web Services API, WS Client lib, Jagzilla mail processor, Hibernate Client lib, Eclipse plugin, Webapp, and REST Webapp. Each of these components offers unique and essential functionalities that make Jagzilla stand out from other software.

Hibernate Mapping is a component that performs the function of Java classes, representing the rows in bugzilla tables and mapping files. It provides direct hibernate access to the bugzilla database. The Jagzilla Core API, on the other hand, offers a higher abstraction level than Hibernate Mapping, making it a crucial component that understands business logic and provides easy access to this functionality.

The Jagzilla Web Services API is an implementation of the Core API that uses XML and HTTP as transport, while the WS Client lib is a simple jar that facilitates easy access to jagzilla WS from any java app. The Jagzilla mail processor is programmed to read email accounts and add bugs to the database with information from the mails.

The Hibernate Client lib is also another essential component that enables easy access to Jagzilla Core API from any java app. Additionally, the Eclipse plugin helps to access the majority of the functionality of jagzilla. The access mode can either be through hibernate and JDBC (directly to the database) or via web services.

Furthermore, the Webapp, as a web frontend for Jagzilla, provides a java-based web front-end while showcasing the best approaches to using the jagzilla backend. Lastly, the REST Webapp is a web application that functions as a server for the web services interface, utilizing XML over HTTP.

In conclusion, Jagzilla is a force to reckon with in the software world, providing excellent interoperation between bugzilla and java-based apps. The software even goes a step further by offering other additional functionalities that make it efficient and one-of-a-kind.
