Kazit is a Knoppix remaster from Israel.
Kazit is a fantastic Israeli Knoppix remaster that has recently received some significant updates. In this release, several non-free packages have been removed, including Firefox, OpenOffice2, and KDE localization files. Additionally, Hebrew spellcheckers and fonts such as culmus and culmus-fancy have been added to the system. Other packages added include IWIZ, hocr, gaim-bidi, mlterm, beep-media-player, and kkbswitch.
System definitions have been updated, including locale he_IL.UTF-8 (or en_US.UTF-8 optional) and a Hebrew keyboard layout in xorg.conf. Correct encodings for FAT/NTFS partitions have been implemented to support Hebrew.
User definitions have also been updated to include KKBSwitch correct definitions, Firefox suitable fonts, and BiDi Mail UI for Thunderbird. There is also a BiDi plugin for gaim, Konsole fonts, and enhanced QT support for RTL languages. Various decoration changes have been made as well, including a white frame for the boot splash screen and fixed pixelated fonts in the system. The knoppix icon has been changed to the kazit icon.
Firefox has seen minimal font changes, including serif font Elnina CLM and sans font Nachlieli CLM. The tab is now closed on middle button click, and BiDi support is turned on by default in Konsole. The boot delay has also been changed to 5 seconds instead of 30 seconds. Several icons have been removed from the taskbar for better 800x600 support. KKBSwitch now shows a flag after installation, and kdepersonaliser does not run for new users and changes Hebrew definitions on install. A wallpaper file has been added to the system, and there have been some enhancements in the K menu.
