If you're looking for a tool to create DVD/(S)VCD structures for recording on CD/DVD, Linux Video Maker is a must-have. It is essentially a graphic user interface (GUI) for transcode, mplex, DVDAuthor, and other related programs. This makes it easy to generate standard DVD/(S)VCD structures without belaboring yourself with a lot of technical knowledge.

Using other programs for this purpose can be uncomfortable, especially for beginners, as it demands a lot of understanding about DVD/(S)VCD technology and video conversion. With Linux Video Maker, you get to enjoy the functionality of eight external programs, so you won't have to worry too much about making mistakes during the conversion process. Bear in mind that handling AVI files with complicated video algorithms (DIVX) can take a lot of time.

Although the program doesn't come with too many advanced options, it does allow users to generate standard DVD/(S)VCD structures easily. It is available in two GUI languages: English and Polish. To run the program, you'll need certain requirements, including transcode, dvdauthor, GNU VCDImager/VCDRip, mjpeg tools, cdrtools, and MPlayer.

There are several new features included in this latest release, including the ability to work with multiple input files such as mpg, mov, asf, and asx instead of just AVI. UNICODE has now been added as a new character set for subtitles, and users can also add chapters to their DVD structure. The progress window now displays elapsed and estimated time information, and the GUI has been updated for improved aesthetics. Users can also switch between the newer Compiere GUI and the classic GUI while running videomaker. Additionally, you can now choose your preferred language within the program. The code itself has also undergone some general optimization, making the program even more efficient.
