Mappa is a powerful Topic Maps engine that seamlessly integrates with Python. This software is highly compatible with the Topic Maps – Data Model and offers various backends, some of which can be used in a Jython environment too.

If you wish to install Mappa, you have two options: use the files in the "Downloads" section, or opt for the recommended method of installing Mappa by using the command: "easy_install Mappa tm.reader.ltm tm.reader.tmxml tm.reader.jtm". The latter method installs Mappa, as well as syntax readers for LTM, JTM and TM/XML. The XTM reader is already installed by default with Mappa. Alternatively, if you only require Mappa without additional syntax readers, run the command: "easy_install Mappa". This will install Mappa and a XTM reader for 1.0 and 2.0 along with the tm package.
