I recently had the pleasure of trying out Aleph One, a freeware descendant of Bungie's Marathon 2 first person 3D shooting game. One of the first things I noticed was its compatibility with Marathon 2 and Marathon Infinity data files, as well as other free third-party conversions.
In addition, there's a conversion of Marathon 1 available called M1A1, and many third-party scenarios and net maps to keep you entertained. Aleph One also features software and OpenGL rendering, Internet play, Lua scripting, and much more.
It's worth noting that the use of hi-res textures, 32-bit Fusion Sprites, and landscapes are highly recommended to enhance the gameplay experience. Overall, I found Aleph One to be a great piece of software that not only lives up to its expectations but also offers a satisfying and enjoyable gaming experience.
