SmartTitle

As a software reviewer, I recently had the opportunity to test out SmartTitle, a free and open source script that enhances the functionality of the Terminal.app. SmartTitle's primary function is to display the working directory path of a terminal window directly in the title field of Terminal.app. This feature alleviates several common annoyances, such as users having to navigate back and forth between their terminal windows and file explorer windows to locate files.

SmartTitle’s creators have taken into account the issue of overly long window title names. To address this, SmartTitle only displays the top three levels of the folder path. This serves to keep the window title concise and readable, while still providing information on the terminal's location.

One of the best aspects of SmartTitle is that it automatically updates when the user changes the working directory, which is a time saver. Additionally, this feature is seamless and works without any intervention or action from the user.

Perhaps the most important feature of SmartTitle is its ability to work with path names that contain non-Roman characters. This functionality sets SmartTitle apart, as many other similar scripts and add-ons struggle with handling this sort of data. Thanks to this feature, SmartTitle can assist a more extensive range of users who require international character support.
