StopDashboard is a software that prevents Dashboard from removing widgets from memory by permanently stopping it. It can be used to keep widgets active and available for immediate use.
I recently received a request from a reader for a modified version of the DisableDashboard widget. They wanted a version that would only disable Dashboard without losing the ability to restart using F12. In response to this request, I’ve developed a widget called StopDashboard, which is essentially an updated version of the original widget.
The StopDashboard widget simply kills the Dock process, which includes Dashboard. After doing so, MacOSX will automatically restart the Dock, but Dashboard won't be loaded into memory. If you wish to start Dashboard up again, all you need to do is press F12.
