TCDR software allows for menu-based CD creation in a simplistic manner.
TCDR is a versatile menu-driven console frontend designed to facilitate CD recording. It is supported by a variety of programs listed in the manual.
TCDR boasts many key features, including configuration detection. This enables the automatic detection of device files, mount points, SCSI addresses, and other related settings. Additionally, the software supports medium detection – such as identifying the type, size, empty space, recording speed, etc. of the CD.
The frontend also provides software detection and selection. It comes with support for CD-R and CD-RW, along with transparently compressed CD (ZISO) support. Users can easily convert a directory to ISO/ZISO image, or vice versa. TCDR also makes it easy to copy a data CD to an ISO image or another CD, even on the fly.
In terms of advanced functionalities, the software supports mixed mode CD (CD Extra), multi-session CD, and even an El Torito boot CD (tested with a DOS boot image). TCDR also manages audio CD files, allowing you to copy them to a CD, rip them to RAW/WAV images, generate automatic TOC files, and more.
The latest release includes many updates and improvements. For example, developers have fixed a bug in detect_scsi() that caused TCDR to hang when only one CD-ROM device was present in the system. They also used dialog's "--default-item" option for correct menu item highlights, while the Debian package now supports the Debian menu system and complies with Debian policy standards.
