The THHDesign On Air is a virtual DJ mixer software that allows users to create and mix their own music. It offers various features and effects to enhance the sound quality of the music.
On Air is a virtual studio that operates within the Classic Environment of Mac OS X. The software boasts a variety of features including two virtual CD players with MP3 support, a Jingles player also supporting MP3 files, an AutoPlay function with BPM sync mixing, and a real-time sequencer.
Additionally, On Air has officially unsupported networking functions with remote controlling, virtual stereophonic Pre-Fade-Listening (PFL via network), and ID3 Tags display (ID3v1, ID3v2, and ID3v2.3) with ID3 Tags editing (ID3v1; officially unsupported). There are also BPM counters, Pitch Control, and Auto Pitch Function that sets the pitch to automatically match a master BPM value.
Other features include a crossfader, AutoCrossfade function, Talkover button with a soft talkover feature, Jog Shuttles for each of the main players, Mute buttons, Punch Out buttons, Solo buttons, Freeze function, and graphic display of the tracks. Users can also access start and end-beat settings, flag settings, intro time display, intro skipping, airplay lock function, lock out terms function, memo for each title, and a directory for all music tracks called Stock.
On Air also features multi-stock, mirroring, and the ability to assign pictures or even movies to each track. There is an Airplay Log and compatibility with Apple's iTunes software with better and faster ID3v2 and ID3v2.3 support.
Users have access to pre-fade-listening (PFL) using a channel splitting technique that requires only one computer, a crossfade start function that starts a player when the crossfade slider is dragged towards it, and a crossfade stop function that stops a player when the slider is dragged to the opposite side.
The software also features an impressive playing track information system that puts information about the currently playing track into a text file or into a complete webpage (in HTML code). There are also expanded internal drag-and-drop capabilities, improved sequencer playback function, and an auto-save function for BPM counters that makes BPM-tapping even easier.
However, the unregistered version does come with some limitations as it only supports 10 tracks per set and 2 sets. In this release, new volume adjustment functions have been added, and a new iTunes importer allows users to import playlists exported from iTunes.
On Air has also improved its AutoPlay functions and playlist editing, and AutoPlay now works internally with ID3 data. With improved PFL functions and improved actions menu, the software has made significant changes under the hood to make it better, faster, and to pave the way to Classic and Mac OS X.
