transKode

transKode is a software program that serves as a frontend for various audio transcoding tools, based on Michael Mitton's AUDIO FORMAT CONVERTER v.6. It is ideal for KDE and Qt-based platforms. The software supports multiple input formats, including wav, mp3 (requires lame), mpc (requires mppdec), ogg (requires oggdec), flac (requires flac), ape/mac (requires mac), m4a/mp4 (requires faad), spx (requires speexdec), and other audio formats decodable by installed gst-streamer (requires gst-launch with gst-spider plugin). Additionally, transKode supports output formats such as wav, mp3 (requires lame), mpc (requires mppenc), ogg (requires oggenc), flac (requires flac), ape/mac (requires mac), m4a/mp4 (requires faac), spx (requires speexenc), and output formats for which you have gstreamer encoder plugins (needs gst-launch with wavparse plugin).

To use transKode, the user must have amaroK 1.3 and TagLib 1.4 installed. FAAC/FAAD, FLAC, GStreamer, LAME, Monkey's Audio Port, MPlayer, Musepack, OGG Vorbis, and Speex are optional dependencies that the user can choose to install.

In this release, transKode has fixed various bugs, including a bug that prevented Amarok TTMD from finishing if there was a transcoding error. Additionally, the software has improved the decoding and encoding processes priority settings which were previously not correctly applied.
