translate.Link is a PHP Translation Center that uses the CodeIgniter PHP Framework. It is designed for small to medium sized projects that use language files constructed using PHP associative arrays. The platform offers the translation center and an administration area where users can add users, associate languages with each user, view logs and more.
The project was developed to learn a PHP framework and to assist in the development of the creator's main project domus.Link. The platform is based on CMS Made Simple's Translation Center, with some of the CSS used copied directly from CMSMS TC. Though the platform may have possible improvements, the creator does not plan to actively work on it. Thus, any necessary changes made to the platform that improve its performance should be submitted for others to benefit from sharing.
To install the platform, users must download and un-tar the package to their webserver, create a MySQL database and user, and database tables. The language directory and its contents' permissions must be changed and then config.php must be edited. Once these steps are completed, users can point the web browser to the location of translate.Link and all should be okay.
Once the platform is installed, users can access it by going to the pre-filled DB, the .htaccess file, and example language files. Users can then access the translation area and administration area. The default language is English with Portuguese also available. Users can customize the language files' filenames and choose which language is the default in the config.php file.
