WCT is a tool for managing web harvesting, allowing users to selectively curate content from the internet.
This software was developed as a collaborative effort by the National Library of New Zealand and the British Library, initiated by the International Internet Preservation Consortium.
The latest version of the WCT comes loaded with new features that make it even more effective than its previous versions. Some of the new features that have been added include the 'Member of' tab to Group display, new Reports menu page, and the ability to edit and delete Annotations (system-wide).
Other features that have been added to the latest version of the software include an indication of required fields (system-wide), automatic update of Permission state, ability to delete queued Target Instances, and a 'view' icon added to the Users, Roles, and Agencies screens.
Furthermore, the WCT also includes additional tabs such as 'Access' tab to the Target and Group screens and a 'Display' tab to the Target Instance screen. The software also allows users to select the number of results per page and modified Harvest Authorizations search results page.
Users can also filter Harvester Profiles, Users & Roles by Agency, and Groups search form fields to filter by Group Type. Additionally, the default search when opening the Groups screen has been changed, and the facility to 'Unclaim' Tasks from within the In-Tray was added.
Finally, the WCT developers made 'Target Reference Number is Mandatory' optional - according to system configuration. All these new features make this software a highly effective tool for managing web contents with ease.
