This math learning software covers essential concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and algebra. It includes four levels of instruction for every math category, starting with the basics, and aims to improve users' mathematical abilities.
The beginner level uses objects displayed on the screen to demonstrate various concepts. For instance, if you want to teach your child subtraction of three from nine, the software will display nine objects in red, three of which are black. From there, you can demonstrate that three red objects are taken away, and your child can count the number of red objects remaining, which will be the answer.
Similar techniques are used in other math categories such as multiplication, where the software shows three columns and four rows of objects to teach your child how to multiply three and four. Again, your child will count the objects and learn the answer.
This software was developed by Dr. Andrew Motes, who is well-known for creating the award-winning software, School-Mom, for MS-DOS PCs in the late 1980s. Later, he extracted the math instruction and published it as Moms Math, which was also made available for MS-DOS PCs. Now, he has brought back Moms Math as a Windows application, which is the version of the software you see today.
Overall, Moms Math is an excellent software for parents who want to give their children a head start in math. With its comprehensive range of instructional materials and user-friendly interface, it makes learning math fun and interactive for young learners.
Version 3.1: For V3.0 added fun LaserBlaster game for teaching counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. For V3.1 fixed a bug.
