2xExplorer is a dual-pane explorer software that is lightweight and powerful. Its focus on usability increases productivity for everyday file management tasks. The software provides an image viewer, editor, folder synchronization and many more features.
I recently reviewed the 2xExplorer software and I must say that I am thoroughly impressed. It is a completely free, lightweight software that functions as a Norton Commander type (dual-pane) file manager for Win9x/NT4/2000/Me/XP, fully shell-integrated. With its easy navigation and loads of tools, it is definitely a great replacement for Windows Explorer, making it a suitable option for both advanced users and novices alike.
With the software’s dual pane layout and extra tree in a dockable pane, users can easily navigate through files and folders. The internal text editor, RTF/HEX viewer, and thumbnail preview pane for images, HTML, office documents, make it an all-around useful software.
The 2xExplorer also boasts of several advanced features like lightweight folder synchronization, advanced FileFind command, automatic building of batch files (e.g. for mass renaming), loads of keyboard shortcuts, integrated ZIP file management (for winXP), printing of folder contents and other statistics, wildcard-based filters, split & merge files, create hard links (NTFS), copy pathnames and preview images, and optional single-click activation.
Overall, I would highly recommend the 2xExplorer software for anyone in need of a file manager. It’s free, lightweight, and packed with tons of great features.
