Alien Arena 2008 has been updated with some exciting new features, including five mutators (instagib, regeneration, vampire, rocket arena, and low grav) and Deathball, a mode where you score points by capturing and firing a ball into a goal. Additionally, 8 new levels have been added, and some of the weapons now have alternate firing modes.

The game's engine has been updated to version 4.03 of the CRX engine, which has added some next-gen features such as reflective water, shaders, light bloom, and improved lighting. This extra eye-candy doesn't mean the game runs sluggishly - it's still a fast-paced experience even on weaker systems.

Other improvements include colored names, an enhanced console and an in-game server browser. For an even greater challenge, the "Nightmare Bots" patch is available which adds an extra, fourth skill level to the in-game bots.
