I recently had the opportunity to try out anyremote-lirc, a bridge that connects LIRC and anyremote-J2ME-client. What really impressed me about this software is that I did not need anyRemote in order to use it. With anyremote-lirc, I was able to seamlessly transfer all commands from my phone to the main lircd server.
One thing to keep in mind is that anyremote-lirc behaves like a subordinate lircd server. To get started, I simply ran the following command: anyremote-lirc -c 19 -l 5051. After that, I ran the lircd command lircd -c localhost:5051 [-P /tmp/lircd.pid ] [-L /tmp/lircd.log -n ] /path/to/linux-input-layer-lircd.conf.
