This software is a library that provides a constant key-value database.
APBCDB is a library designed for C programmers, although it cannot be utilized directly by users. The library has been benchmarked on a 1.8 GHz machine with 1GB RAM. The lookup keys were randomly distributed and 50% of them were present in the database.
To use APBCDB, users must include the apbcdb.h header file, and all of the functions return a result code which must be checked. If the result code is nonzero, an error has occurred and is listed in the header file. Users should not move forward past an error result. Additionally, users should add the apbcdb directory to their project and link with apbcdb_writer.o, apbcdb_reader.o, and apbindex/apbindex.o.
To create a database with APBCDB, users must first initiate the apbcdb_writer, then add entries to the database, and finally end writing to create the database file.
To read a database with APBCDB, users must open the apbcdb_reader and utilize the get function to retrieve data from the database file. Once the data is retrieved, the reader must be closed.
