AXMEDIS Editor is software designed for creating and editing AXMEDIS/MPEG-21 Objects. It enables users to manage and manipulate multiple features including structure and packaging, resource, metadata, visual and behavioral, protection and DRM. Additionally, it provides support for workflows.
This is a software review for AXMEDIS Editor - a tool that is used for the manual production of AXMEDIS Objects. The software has a range of features that make it easy for users to create and manipulate object features and their different aspects.
Firstly, the software has a Structure and Packaging feature that allows users to add, remove, move digital resources, and metadata inside the AXMEDIS Object. The software has a hierarchy editor and viewer of the object which makes the manipulation possible. Users can manipulate in terms of AXMEDIS elements and/or in terms of the MPEG-21 standard.
Secondly, there is a Resource Manipulation feature that allows users to use content processing plug-ins for generic and customizable resource manipulation. The same algorithms and tools used in the AXMEDIS Content Processing are available so that testing of AXMEDIS Content Processing algorithms can be done.
Thirdly, users can edit and map metadata related to digital resources and objects using the Metadata Editing feature. This allows users to edit/match any XML format related to the digital resources and objects.
Fourthly, there is a Visual and Behavioral Editing feature that allows users to define content usage paradigm organization of resources to present/layouting the digital content contained inside the AXMEDIS Object. Users have the option of saving in SMIL, as templates, HTML, etc.
Fifthly, the software has a Protection Editing feature that allows users to specify/test protection algorithms to be used for the AXMEDIS Object protection. With this feature, users can define the Protection Information using the Protection Editor and Viewer.
Sixthly, there is a DRM Editing feature that allows users to produce and verify licenses for end-users and/or distributors of the AXMEDIS Object. Additionally, users can view the Potentially Available Rights that could be acquired on objects shared in the P2P Network using the DRM Editor and Viewer.
Finally, the software has a Workflow feature that allows users to edit and view the status and the work to be done on the AXMEDIS Objects involved in the workflow process. The Workflow Editor and Viewer allow users to keep track of the work that needs to be done.
