BeNicer

BeNicer is a software that provides a graphical interface to the UNIX 'renice' command. This command enables users to change the priority of any process through the 'Nice' process attribute, subject to system permissions. The priority of a process in UNIX determines the amount of CPU time it will receive. When a new process is launched, the system assigns it a priority, and the starting value of its 'nice' attribute is zero.

Users can change the 'nice' value of a process to request that the system raises or lowers the priority of a specific process. The 'nice' value can be set between -20 and 20, and lowering the Nice level increases the process's priority. The values signify whether the process is 'more nice' (1 to 20) or 'less nice' (-1 to -20) compared to other processes.
