ChkBk is a user-friendly software designed to keep track of your personal finances. Its basic features ensure effective checkbook management while remaining easy to use.
ChkBk is a Bourne Shell script that offers an easy-to-use checkbook registry program, making it a great option for individuals who frequently use their checkcards but don't always have their checkbook on hand.
I developed ChkBk because I was tired of having to hold onto receipts until I returned home to enter them into my checkbook, making it my goal to create something simple that could be accessed easily from work. As such, I opted for command line access and ssh, given its encryption, minimal network resource usage, and my comfort level at the command line.

- Offering an accurate and easy way to keep track of your checking and/or savings account transactions
- Providing the ability to view full or partial transaction history
- Allowing for database backup and restore to/from remote computers or locally mounted filesystems

In addition, the latest release of ChkBk includes several updates such as a fix for a major bug that correctly identifies used check numbers, the addition of the ability to search for specific transactions, automagically filling in decimal places when none is entered for amount and fee fields, improved screen output, and more. Overall, ChkBk is a great choice for anyone who wants a functional checkbook registry program without the cost or complexity associated with Quicken(tm) and other similar programs.
