Upon choosing a startup directory, the project-explorer automatically searches the subdirectories for cvs projects and displays them on the workbench. All functions for one or many files or whole directories can be accessed via pulldown menus or through a right-click.
The state of the individual directories is continuously scanned by CrossVC, providing users with a clear indication of the overall project status. Even without opening individual folders, the symbol of the directory may communicate that there are, for example, still uncommitted changes somewhere in the depth of a directory hierarchy. CrossVC is qualified for large projects with many thousand files, thanks to its on-the-fly dir scanning capabilities.
CrossVC supports all standard cvs connection protocols, including proxy support that requires a patched cvs. To facilitate concurrent use with the cvs command-line, CrossVC does not affect the cvs internal project maintenance. Even though the software graphically supports almost the whole cvs range of functions and is continuously under development, it is easy to customize the GUI to the individual needs. Popup menus are freely configurable, providing full feature access, while an extra toolbar enables direct access to often used features.
