DHex is a software for illustrating the chemical design calculations of Double pipe (hairpin) Heat Exchangers, automating all thermal calculations and providing a summary of results.

One of the standout features is the ability to calculate unknown temperatures or flow rates. This software allows you to perform thermal analysis for a variety of different types of heat exchangers, including bare tube double pipe (hairpin) and finned tube double pipe (hairpin) heat exchangers. You can also choose from Counter Current or Co-Current Flow arrangement, as well as Series arrangement or Series-Parallel arrangement.
There are some great additional tools included that allow you to calculate various properties such as Area, Flow area, Length, Log Mean Temperature Difference, Number of Hairpins, Unknown Flow rate, scale resistance (dirt factor), Equivalent Diameter. Additionally, you can calculate Pipe / Annulus side Reynolds, Nusselt numbers & Prandtl Numbers, Duty, Clean and Design Overall heat transfer coefficient calculations, Pipe / Annulus velocities and Mass velocity calculations, Number of Transfer Units & Thermal Capacity ratio calculation, and Clean and Fouled Fin Efficiency calculations for finned tube heat exchanger.
The software also includes a vast physical properties database that estimates properties for more than 1450 components. This database can estimate Thermal Conductivity, Density, Heat Capacity and Viscosity. The software also allows you to estimate mixture properties, though currently supports liquids only. If you need to add a new substance, there are user database functions to allow you to add / delete fluids and load to hot / cold side. Fouling factors are also included.
Overall, this software is a comprehensive tool for anyone needing to perform thermal analysis or unit conversions in the field of heat exchangers. It's feature-rich, user-friendly, and is a great asset to any engineer's toolkit.
