DRAGSENS Geo Software enables real-time position estimation of a variety of towed objects, including sensors, cameras, and nets, being dragged by vehicles, ships, or aircrafts. The software ensures precise tracking of the dragged object's location for analysis and monitoring purposes.

Using advanced mathematical algorithms, the software calculates the position of the sensor along the opposite direction of the course by taking into account factors such as drift rate, rolling and cornering ability of the towing vehicle. By receiving current position data from a GPS string and averaging a direction vector, DRAGSENS provides precise estimates of the sensor's position, even considering the cable not as a straight line but as a parabolic arch.
DRAGSENS runs under Microsoft Windows and uses two independent serial ports, which may also be USB ports controlled by a serial port driver. The input port receives NMEA-standard position data, while the output port provides sensor position in both geographic and kilometric format. The software also broadcasts several strings with coordinates in different coordinate systems, date/time and additional information on the second serial port, all following the NMEA standard for RMC specifications, including the checksum bit for transfer controlling.
Originally developed to add geotags as an overlay with UTM coordinates on footage taken by a towed underwater video camera, DRAGSENS has expanded its capabilities to deliver video images from a towed video camera with numeric overlay position of a towed object. It can accurately determine the position of any towed sensor, including hydrophones, airguns, sonars or even nets, making it essential software for professionals in the fields of marine, underwater, and aerial surveying.
