FlexCel Reports is a Delphi 5/6 component suite that enables TMS users to create Excel files by substituting data. This is a special offer for registered users.
As a registered TMS user, I had the opportunity to try out FlexCel Reports, a suite of Delphi 5,6,7 + C++Builder 5,6 & Kylix components that enables the creation of Excel files by substituting values from a database or variables into a template. Additionally, the software includes an API that permits the direct reading and writing of Excel files, and a grid for displaying and editing them.
One of the standout features of FlexCel Reports is its ability to read and create complex spreadsheets effortlessly, regardless of the user's operating system. In particular, I appreciated the option to generate completely native files (no OLE/dlls) in biff 8 format: Xls 97-2000-XP, or create them using OLE automation.
Moreover, the program allows for the embedding of templates within your exe file, thereby eliminating the need for additional files to be distributed. FlexCel Reports also boasts an impressive range of functionalities, including the ability to create images, comments, conditional formats, merged cells, pivot tables, and charts, thereby offering almost the complete Excel 2000 feature set in native or OLE mode (note: writing images is not permitted in OLE, although they can be included in the template).
Finally, FlexCel Reports is capable of saving files to HTML files (only in OLE mode), and delivers messages in a number of different languages (English, Spanish, French, Italian, Romanian, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, German, and Simplified Chinese). Overall, I was impressed with the software, and would happily recommend it to other users seeking a reliable and versatile tool for creating Excel files.
